The Black Innovation Leaders of Florida started with a conversation in October 2021 at Synapse Orlando between founding leaders, James Faison and Ebony Vaz.
In February 2022, innovation leaders from across the state gathered at Synapse Summit to discuss how to better connect the existing innovation organizations, resources and foster new opportunities for growth.
A formal board formed with James Faison, Ebony Vaz, Rose Lejiste, Servola Frazier, Lloyd Reshard, Dr. Wanda Eugene, Dr. Temante Leary and Cherrise Wilkes. Focused on building five pillars: Procurement, Policy, Education, Talent and Capital, the group established common needs stretching across 11 existing innovation organizations.
